Goodbye Phone Lines!

It's no shock that today, many communities and businesses are deciding to drop their outdated telephone lines for newer, more robust services offered through cellular or VoIP systems.

According to San Fransisco Business Times, the popular phone company AT&T is pushing a bill in the California legislature that would allow it to phase out landlines starting in 2020 if there is an alternative, like cell phones, available to customers.
Bill sponsor and San Jose Assemblyman, Evan Low told a CBS affiliate KPIX that the bill will help the company cut costs by ending maintenance on expensive copper wires and routing stations, while making sure customers are still connected. AT&T estimates about 4.5 million users in California still have landlines, though.

“The plain old telephone system known as pots is rapidly approaching irrelevance,” said Low “We’re modernizing with the times. We liken this from going to analog to digital."

But, do these newer technologies work with telephone entry systems?

Thanks to Elika Access Systems you now have the best option to cut those wires. As you may know, traditional phone lines utilize copper lines, which are vulnerable to outages. Not to mention, since traditional phone lines depend on dial up, the connection is slower than other services.  With advances in technology, entry systems are thoughtfully designed to work with many different types of communication services. The most popular services include cellular and VoIP, but what is the main difference between the two?

- Cellular: A cellular network or mobile network is a communication network where the last link is wireless. The network is distributed over land areas called cells, each served by at least one fixed-location transceiver, but more normally three cell sites or base stations.

- VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol): A newer communication service that takes analog audio signals, like what you hear when you talk on the phone, and turns them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet.

All this being said here are some main reasons to make the switch:

-  Easy installation, no trenches to dig for your copper phone lines
-  Faster connection and better communication
-  Is the safest telephone option because there are no wires to be destroyed in natural disasters or outages *
-  Enables your telephone entry system to be controlled remotely using the Elika Cloud
-  Everything is ready to go out of the box

* If going with the cellular option or wifi on VoIP

Completely Wireless

Elika Access Systems is proud to present the new Bluetooth Mobile App has arrived.

How does Bluetooth work?

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that uses low-energy radio waves to send wireless data between Bluetooth-enabled devices. It's similar to Wi-Fi in that it operates over radio waves. However, Bluetooth can work between any two enabled devices and does not require additional network equipment such as routers or modems, making it a popular choice for sending data between mobile electronics over close ranges.

How does the Elika Bluetooth App work?

Elika Access 92 vs. Doorking 1812 Access Plus

1812vs.92

In comparison, the Elika 92 surpasses the 1812 Access Plus. As delineated above, the 92 model has 20x the memory of the 1812. In terms of software and application, the 1812 Access Plus requires the Access Plus Account Manager software on a PC. With this program you can receive reports via the internet. In contrast, the Elika 92 requires no software installation on a computer, only a web based management application is required, which will allow you to log on from any computer or smart device. Doorking’s 1812 Access Plus also requires a direct phone line whereas with the Elika 92, you can connect wirelessly via BLE (Bluetooth) and Wi-Fi technology. With access to a smart device, you can download the Elika BLE App and grant access to anyone with Elika Keys. These Smart Keys can be sent to an unlimited amount of guests and when these guests get in proximity of the system, their smart device will be recognized and the Elika 92 will allow automatic entry. You can customize time and dates with Elika Keys as well as receive pop-up notifications of access granted, access denied, and many more alerts. With the Elika App, you can also view and have two-way conversations through the 92’s HD Video Camera. This camera comes equipped with intelligent motion sensor technology, detecting all incoming visitors before they knock on your door, and a built-in infared sensor that captures images at night. With optional cloud storage, the Elika 92 can record all the HD videos you wish. In terms of aesthetic and specifications, comparing these two is like comparing a rotary dial phone and a touch screen smart device. Elika Access Systems has stepped up the telephone entry system game and will definitely transcend the market. Release date is expected to be in June.
